07/17/2016 9/11 Secret Saudi 29 pages revealed: Sources The Daily Beast, DIg Within, Roots Action
The Daily Beast: Secret Saudi 9/11 finally revealed turns out there are 29 not 28 pages
Excerpt in its entirety: The 9/11 Commission’s look into the link between Saudi officials and the al Qaeda hijackers is finally here.
And there are a number of tantalizing new leads. Thirteen years after the publication of a joint congressional inquiry into the
9/11 terrorist attacks, 29 pages on possible ties between the hijackers and Saudi officials were finally released to the public on
Friday. (pdf) Close watchers of the possible Saudi-9/11 connection will find few surprises. And the pages will settle no
controversies. But they did provide all sorts of tantalizing and inconclusive hints at links between the infamous al Qaeda
terrorists and their supporters in the Saudi government--the very government that the terrorist group had vowed to destroy. For
instance, there’s the discovery of a CIA memorandum that discussed “alleged financial connections between the September 11
hijackers, Saudi Government officials, and members of the Saudi Royal Family…” The memo was drafted by a CIA officer, whose
name is blacked out, “relying primarily on information from FBI files.” The officer sent the memo to the CIA’s Counterterrorism
Center and provided a copy to an FBI agent. But the memo was apparently never sent to FBI headquarters.
That’s one of few new revelations. Much of the contents of perhaps the most famous classified documents in U.S. history were
already known, thanks to a steady drip of leaks by those who had read them and the advocacy of Sen. Bob Graham, who chaired
the inquiry and has been pressing for the pages’ release for years. (News accounts have always stated that there were 28 pages
in total, but it turns out there are 29.) Graham had said the Bush and Obama administrations had for years been withholding
vital information about the attacks from the American public. U.S. officials had given no explicit reason why the pages should be
withheld, and appeared to do so only recently because of renewed press interest in the pages’ findings.
But scanning through the 29 pages, one is immediately struck by the abundance of words like “speculate” and “allegations” and
“may have provided support.” Had the pages been released in their entirety, the congressional inquiry might very well have been
accused of inciting a mob, publishing unproven and in some cases un-investigated allegations about specific individuals and
their connection to the mass murder of 3,000 people. The joint inquiry itself acknowledged in the 29 pages that it had not
investigated the leads it wanted to publish, which came largely information collected by the FBI early in the 9/11 investigation.
"It was not the task of this Joint Inquiry to conduct the kind of extensive investigations that would be required to determined
the true significance of any such alleged connections to the Saudi Government,” the pages state, noting that some of the
suspected links could turn out to be completely innocent. The inquiry’s intention was to provide a roadmap for future
investigations and inquiry, not to close the case on 9/11. The White House press spokesperson Josh Earnest said shortly before
the pages were released to the public that they showed no evidence of Saudi complicity in the 9/11 attacks.
The Saudi ambassador to the U.S. said that his government had been calling for years to release the material, and that he hoped
it would bring an end to speculation about Saudi involvement. “We hope the release of these pages will clear up, once and for
all, any lingering questions or suspicions about Saudi Arabia’s actions, intentions, or long-term friendship with the United
States,” said Abdullah Al-Saud. Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, praised the Obama
administration for publishing the documents with redactions that he said were necessary to protect intelligence sources and
methods. “I hope that the release of these pages...will diminish speculation that they contain proof of official Saudi Government
or senior Saudi official involvement in the 9/11 attacks,” Schiff said in a statement. That may be wishful thinking. Given that
there’s not much news in the pages themselves, those who have long seen a substantial Saudi connections to the attacks are
unlikely to be convinced otherwise now. The 29 pages’ key finding had been known for some time.
“While in the United States, some of the September 11 hijackers were in contact with, and received support or assistance from,
individuals who may be connected to the Saudi government.” There was also information, primarily from FBI sources, that “at
least two of those individuals were alleged by some to be Saudi intelligence officers.”
One of those men, Omar al-Bayoumi, is identified in the report as a possible Saudi intelligence officer about whom the FBI “has
received numerous reports” from people in the “Muslim community” going back to 1999. Al-Bayoumi’s name had already
surfaced in press accounts as having provided “substantial assistance,” as the inquiry put it, to two hijackers after they arrived in
San Diego in 2000. He’s described as having “extensive contact with Saudi government establishments in the United States.”
But U.S. and Saudi officials have subsequently said there was no evidence to connect Bayoumi to the hijackers. He did befriend
them, but, he claims, only after a chance meeting in a restaurant in Feb. 2000 when he overheard them speaking Gulf Arabic.
The FBI subsequently found no evidence that Bayoumi was an intelligence agent for Saudi Arabia.
Dig Within: Missing 28 pages 07/16/2016
Excerpt: (in entirety)
The missing 28 pages from the U.S. Congressional Joint Inquiry into intelligence activities related to 911 were finally released to
the public. These pages do not reveal a lot of new information but what is new strengthens lines of investigation that need to be
followed-up. Here are five examples.
The 28 pages say a lot about two men—Omar al-Bayoumi and Osama Bassnan. The pages hint at the idea that Al-Bayoumi and
Bassnan, who sponsored some of the alleged hijackers in the U.S., were Saudi intelligence agents or assets. Although this is not
new, the pages also mention that both of them worked closely with the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM). That should
bring investigators back to the WTC security company Stratesec, which held its annual meetings in SACM offices.
The SACM was part of the Saudi Embassy run by then-ambassador Prince Bandar. The released pages do a lot of hinting about
Bandar’s funding of Al-Bayoumi and Bassnan’s activities in the United States. What is perhaps a revelation is that the men’s
wives received money from Bandar’s wife but also that Bassnan received $15,000 directly from Bandar’s account.
The pages also reveal that, “several Saudi Naval officers were in contact with the September 11th hijackers.” A related fact that
needs more scrutiny is that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), which profited greatly from the 9/11 crimes,
had spent over twenty years building and training the Saudi Navy. At the time of 9/11, SAIC was run by Dick Cheney’s protégé
Duane Andrews, who was the most knowledgeable person regarding the vulnerabilities of the information and communications
networks that failed that day.
The released pages also make a lot of insinuations about Abu Zubaydah’s “phonebook.” Zubaydah was the first alleged al Qaeda
leader captured. The 28 pages repeatedly mention that his phonebook had several numbers that could be “linked” to U.S. phone
numbers. Readers will likely fail to realize that in 2009 the U.S. government retracted its claims that Zubaydah had any
association to al Qaeda. That the 9/11 Commission Report depended heavily on Zubaydah’s torture testimony is a fact that was
quickly forgotten by Commission and intelligence agency leaders.
The Inquiry’s report was built largely on information provided by the FBI and the CIA. The 28 pages show this clearly. What
people might fail to question is why the Inquiry would go about investigating intelligence agencies simply by reporting
information provided by those agencies. That contradiction was amplified when the Inquiry’s leaders allowed the FBI to
intimidate their own panel members by investigating them while they were investigating the FBI. The reasons for these
contradictions are probably related to the fact that leaders of the FBI and the CIA are legitimate suspects in the 9/11 crimes.
In the end, the release of the 28 pages reinforces some information that was already available but does nothing to correct the
propaganda that the Joint Inquiry produced. The public can learn from it, of course, but that requires looking beyond the
Roots Action: Stop Supporting – and Start Punishing – Saudi Arabia.
Excerpt From a Petition: The U.S. government has finally released 28 previously censored pages of a 2002 Congressional report
on 9/11, pages that cite evidence of complicity in the crimes of 9/11 by top Saudi officials and the Saudi government.
Thank you for the pressure you applied to get these pages released! The United States and other governments needs a whole
new relationship to Saudi Arabia, and we've shown we can exercise influence to make that happen.
Here are four additional reasons to take action against Saudi Arabia:
1.Saudi Arabia buys huge amounts of U.S. and European weaponry, which it uses to slaughter civilians in Yemen, including
bombing a hospital, and to repress democracy at home and in neighboring Bahrain.
2.Saudi Arabia sells huge amounts of fossil fuels to the United States and other nations, which they use to render the earth's
3.Saudi Arabia is the leading source of funding for violent groups terrorizing the Middle East, as well as the attacks in the United
States on September 11, 2001.
4.Saudi Arabia brutally oppresses its own people, including beheading pro-democracy activists.
Western powers have generally seen points 1 and 2 above as positive -- so positive in fact as to require ignoring points 3 and 4. It
is time we changed this perspective. We call on the governments of the world to stop providing Saudi Arabia with weaponry,
and to boycott, divest from, and implement sanctions against that country until the Saudi government ends its military
aggression and abuse of human rights. P.S. RootsAction is an independent online force endorsed by Jim Hightower, Barbara

NOTES July 11, 2016 Private First Class Bradley/Chelsea Manning
Philly: Play - Bradley Manning hero or traitor By Toby Zinman, For The Inquirer 05/03/2016
Excerpt: Inis Nua's production of The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning, is the American premiere of a play by Welsh writer Tim
Rice. It takes up a fascinating subject: how and why a young soldier used his technological expertise to send hundreds of
thousands of classified documents about military events in Iraq to WikiLeaks.
The play offers these binaries to ponder:
Hero or traitor? Manning was both nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and sentenced to 35 years in a maximum-security
Male or female? Bradley Manning became Chelsea Manning.
Under Tom Reing's bold direction, an ensemble of six young, highly accomplished actors take on many roles; most important,
they all, male and female, portray Manning. They also portray Manning's teacher (a bully), fellow soldiers in basic training
(bullies), father (bully), drill instructor (bully), lover (a betrayer), military psychiatrists (betrayers) and - well, you get the picture.
Thus, the play is more a psychological biography than a study in ethical and/or political radicalization. By making Manning's case
history so blatantly that of a victim, and by making every actor onstage portray the soldier, the result is to diminish individuality
and courage. It is disappointing that the script stops short of even mentioning any gender identity issue and frustrating that we
never learn what the results were of the damning material having been made public.

They have released the following statement on her behalf: From Nancy Hollander, Vincent Ward, Chase Strangio- July 11, 2016. After not
connecting with Chelsea for over a week, we were relieved to speak with her this morning. Though she would have preferred to keep her medical
information private, the government disclosing her health information to the media has created concern that they may continue their
unauthorized release of information. Due to these circumstances, Chelsea Manning requested that we communicate on her behalf. Last week,
Chelsea made a decision to end her life. Her attempt was unsuccessful. She knows that people have questions about how she is doing. She wants
everyone to know that she remains under close observation by the prison and expects to remain on this status for the next several weeks. For us,

PFC Bradley Manning is a US Army intelligence specialist who released classified information to WikiLeaks, an organization that he understood
would release portions of the information to news organizations and ultimately to the public. Was the information that PFC Manning leaked
classified for our protection and national security, as government officials contend? Or do the revelations provide the American public with
information that we should have had access to in the first place? Just what are these revelations? Below are some key facts that PFC Manning have
helped reveal to the public.
There is an official policy to ignore torture in Iraq. The “Iraq War Logs” published by WikiLeaks revealed that thousands of reports of prisoner
abuse and torture had been filed against the Iraqi Security Forces. Medical evidence detailed how prisoners had been whipped with heavy cables
across the feet, hung from ceiling hooks, suffered holes being bored into their legs with electric drills, urinated upon, and sexually assaulted. These
logs also revealed the existence of “Frago 242,” an order implemented in 2004 not to investigate allegations of abuse against the Iraqi government.
This order is a direct violation of the UN Convention Against Torture, which was ratified by the United States in 1994. The Convention prohibits the
Armed Forces from transferring a detainee to other countries “where there are substantial grounds for believing that he would be in danger of
being subjected to torture.” According to the State Department’s own reports, the U.S. government was already aware that the Iraqi Security Forces
engaged in torture (1). U.S. defense contractors were brought under much tighter supervision after leaked diplomatic cables revealed that they
had been complicit in child trafficking activities. DynCorp — a powerful defense contracting firm that claims almost $2 billion per year in revenue
from U.S. tax dollars — threw a party for Afghan security recruits featuring boys purchased from child traffickers for entertainment. DynCorp had
already faced human trafficking charges before this incident took place. According to the cables, Afghan Interior minister Hanif Atmar urged the
assistant US ambassador to “quash” the story. These revelations have been a driving factor behind recent calls for the removal of all U.S. defense
contractors from Afghanistan (2). http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/08/21/what-bradley-manning-revealed/

Wallstreet Journal What Bradley Manning Leaked August 21, 2013
Excerpt: Private First Class Bradley Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison Wednesday morning for transmitting government documents to
the antisecrecy website WikiLeaks, and he received a dishonorable discharge. The trove of documents fell within four categories: videos, incident
reports from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, information on detainees at Guantanamo and thousands of State Department cables. WSJ reporter
Julian E. Barnes compiled this list of the top documents for an article that appeared in The Wall Street Journal July 31, 2013.
Video: mThe most important video showed an U.S. Army Apache helicopter in Iraq firing on a group of people who turned out to include journalists
from Reuters. The video was edited by WikiLeaks and called “Collateral Murder.”
The second batch of documents provided by Pfc. Manning that WikiLeaks published were incident reports from Afghanistan and Iraq. WikiLeaks
called them the “War Logs” and said they showed there were much larger numbers of civilian casualties than the U.S. had previously reported.
Guantanamo: Pfc. Manning has also been accused of providing WikiLeaks with documents related to the detainees at Guantanamo. Those
documents have received comparatively little attention, because most of the information in them had been publicly released by the government in

Letter: Stop the FBI’s New Biometric Database (This has been added to a new Biometric Section in System Abuse)
The FBI is stockpiling the fingerprints, faces, tattoos, and more from millions of people – including those not suspected of any criminal
activity. And they’re doing so with essentially NO oversight from Congress or our courts. The FBI has repeatedly failed to tell the public
even the basics about this massive database1 – called the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system. Now it’s pushing to make the system
secret and exempt from standard privacy laws. We have the chance to stop this outrageous power grab by the FBI. The DOJ is accepting
public comments until July 6th to decide whether or not to block the FBI’s request. Tell the FBI: We have a right to know what information
the government collects about us!The FBI and other law enforcement use this massive database to search for “suspects” of any crime
without warrants. But a government watchdog just found high levels of inaccuracy with the system’s facial recognition software.2 These
inaccuracies have led to misidentifying innocent people as criminals, and have kept thousands from getting jobs due to faulty background
checks.3And if the FBI gets its way and gets to exempt this database from standard privacy laws, it will have NO legal obligation to correct
this inaccurate data. Tell the FBI: We won’t let you make your secret database exempt from our privacy rights!
An FBI expert has publicly acknowledged that the system tends to be least accurate on the groups it affects the most4 – people of color,
women, and young people. Even worse, the FBI and other law enforcement has even started using the database to track peaceful political
activists instead of just criminals. The FBI has used NGI documents to track activists at Obama and Clinton political rallies,5 and the
Department of Homeland Security has been tracking Black Lives Matter activists since Ferguson.6And now the FBI wants an exemption from
the exact law – the Privacy Act – that allows us to hold them accountable for illegally targeting us based on our First Amendment
activities?Hell no. Tell the FBI: We won’t let you exempt your surveillance tools from our privacy protections! Thanks for standing

Roots Action: Cian Westmoreland on drone abuses
Recent Email From Roots Action
Excerpt: With great humility but great hope, I’m writing to you from a hostel room somewhere in
Berlin, attempting to reach out to tell you something that I and others like me know -- but
governments and weapons companies would prefer you didn't question. My name is Cian
Westmoreland, and I am a former U.S. Air Force communications technician who built the signals
relay station for receiving and transmitting data -- used in airstrikes -- obtained over 240,000
square miles of Afghanistan.I discovered that in the time I served there, my system was a key
component used in bombings from drones and other aircraft that killed at least 359 innocent
civilians. This was a number derived from a UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan report for the
year 2009.Knowledge of my "life's work" at that time took me down a painful path of tremendous
guilt, hopelessness, isolation, and nightmares to what ultimately culminated in me looking over a
bridge at the Rio Grande, with the plan of taking my own life in October 2015. It was news of a
bombing -- using my equipment -- of an MSF hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, that brought me there
that day.I committed myself to the VA to protect me from harming myself. Less than a month later,
on November 18, 2015, I decided to join fellow drone whistleblowers Brandon Bryant, Michael Haas,
and Stephen Lewis in speaking out as a group for the first time.We drafted a letter to President
Obama, General Michael Hayden, and CIA Director John Brennan urging them to stop the
extrajudicial bombings, reminding them that this policy is creating more terrorists than it is
eliminating. For all of us, there is no turning back.In the past month, I have been connecting with
people around the globe, touring with drone surveillance whistleblower Lisa Ling with a film she is in
called "National Bird," directed by Sonia Kennebeck, to educate the public about what the drone
program really is, and to represent those people who have been psychologically and physically traumatized by drones on all
sides of these strikes. As the recipient of the first Drone Whistleblower Fellowship of the RootsAction Education Fund, I ask that
you consider supporting my work through this fellowship. If you donate, your tax-deductible contribution will help to strengthen
my efforts for peace. Sincerely,Cian Westmoreland

Petitioning United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch
Justice For Tamir Rice
Excerpt: Tamir Rice, Cleveland, Ohio
More than a year after police shot and killed my 12-year-old cousin Tamir Rice as he played in a park with a toy gun, a grand jury declined to charge
the officers who opened fire on Tamir in less than 2 seconds of arriving to the scene. My family is saddened and disappointed– but we are not
surprised. Since Tamir was killed, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty has been on the side of the police -- manipulating the grand-jury
process so that they would vote against indicting the officers. We need the U.S. Department of Justice to step in to conduct a real investigation into
the killing of a 12-year-old child. Even though video shows police shooting Tamir immediately, Prosecutor McGinty hired so-called expert witnesses
to tell the grand jury their conduct was reasonable and justified. It is unheard of, and highly improper, for a prosecutor to hire "experts" to try to
exonerate the targets of a grand-jury investigation. These are the sort of "experts" we would expect the officer's criminal-defense attorney to hire
— not the prosecutor. He gave the officers special treatment which would never be given to non-police suspects. The Department of Justice has
launched independent investigations into police killings of civilians before. Last year, they launched one in response to the killing of John Crawford,
who, like Tamir, had a toy gun in his hand while shopping at a Walmart when police rushed in and shot him to death. A Change.org petition helped
make that investigation happen and that's why I need your signature. Please sign my petition asking the Department of Justice to launch a federal
investigation into prosecutor McGinty's handling of the grand jury process; and for the killing of 12 year old Tamir Rice.

NOTES 12/10/2015 QUIVERFULL MOVEMENT
It Happened to me: I Escaped The "Quiverfull" Fundamentalist Christian Cult
The end of my life as a "Bride of Christ" came when I visited a domestic violence shelter.
Author: Vyckie Garrison (October 2014)
Excerpt: Based on a literalist interpretation of Psalm 127, Quiverfull families eschew all forms of birth control. They have a high regard
for the patriarchal family structure found in the Old Testament which emphasizes hierarchy, authority and strict gender roles for men,
women, boys and girls Excerpt: Some Quiverfull kids are making the break, too. Growing up in a Quiverfull home means being raised by
a narcissistic father and having a mother with a huge martyr complex. Excerpt:
I have also created my own blog, No Longer Quivering, which I began as a way to process my Quiverfull life and try to understand how
I’d come to embrace such a fanatical lifestyle. The response was surprisingly phenomenal and over time, NLQ has grown to into
something like a movement of women escaping and healing from spiritual abuse.
NOTES 06/19 to 20/2015 INDIRA SINGH ON 9/11, PTECH, GARY WEBB
Summaries below are from rense.com excerpting Charlene Fassa (firstname.lastname@example.org - see bellaciao.org) 12-10-2005,
parts one and two. Some additional links are provided with the summaries.
Indira Singh on a radio show* has suggested that Gary Webb was murdered and that the DEA also indicated this. Ptech has
been connected with 9/11 and a secretive organized group with global ties. This same group, according to Singh, can be linked
to the Muslim Brotherhood and Saudis, Iran Contra affair and other government black box activities. Ptech (reported
elsewhere closed) itself had backers and tech people involved directly in the criminal behavior. Connections go into
governmental higher strata. http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/012705_ptech_pt2.shtml

NOTES 06/17/2015 GARY WEBB
He might have been suicided: possible Mossad/South America drug cartels connection
Memory Hole Blog: (2014) Was Gary Webb Suicided to Kill New Book
Excerpt: So I’m going to get a little help from my friends at Liberty Lobby Forum. The rumor mill was churning hot and
heavy at Liberty Forum and Webb’s death was addressed with an attention-grabbing post: Did the Israelis pay a Visit to
To summarize: allegations are made that Webb was working on a new book exposing the hidden Jewish element that is
the controlling factor behind drug trafficking in South America. Apparently, a huge drug war in South America is about
to erupt. It’s characterized as a massive power grab against South American Jewish-drug-lords. According to this
scenario, Hugo Chavez is playing the foil, and is planning to clean-up drug trafficking in his neighborhood, or at least
look as though he is, by militarily moving against Columbia. The prize is control over the illicit $50 billion cocaine and
marijuana market. According to this speculation, Webb was “suicided” by Mossad because he was getting ready to
break this story via his new book. Is the above true? I have no idea. I’ve not been involved with any research about
South American drug trafficking. But, I do know and it has been reported that Chavez has purchased MIG-29’s from Russia.
And at this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to what Gary’s alleged book contains. One thing is for sure, this sort of material would be
his bailiwick. Does this information merit further investigation? I think it does, although some may disagree. I’m merely bringing
this to the attention of serious researchers and truth seekers. It’s up to them to decide if the material merits more study… It
centers on Ross’ comments after learning about Gary Webb’s alleged “suicide”. In the recorded phone conversation, Freeway
Rickey corroborates what Luis Gomez tells us: Gary was working on a project. Additionally, we learn via Rickey that Gary had told
him that he was receiving death threats and harassment from government types…Jon Roland, constitutional reporter, who had an
email dialogue with Gary): “I spoke to Gary and in the conversation he indicated he had a lot of evidence that did not appear in his
writings. I cautioned him that the CIA might contrive to “suicide” him, and he indicated that if he died it would not be suicide.” As
to when he had this contact with Gary: Jon said, “after the Mercury articles were written, and Gary had been living in Sacramento
3 or 4 months.” Jon also reiterated that Gary had a cache of evidence, left over from his writings that had never been published,
which made him concerned for Gary’s life.”
David Suzuki Foundation: Unease in our times
This is an email from the David Suzuki Foundation (Canadian Environmental group) provided recently. It i
s an excellent letter and so aptly
sums up many of the things supported and discussed on this website and greeningways.com:
Reading the news, it’s hard not to feel a growing sense of unease. The threat of terrorism, growing instability and conflict overseas, a
shooting on Parliament Hill last October and uncertainty about the economy diminish our collective feelings of safety and security. To this
we add the looming environmental threats of climate change, pollution, declining ocean health, oil spills and extreme weather. All of it takes
a psychological toll, even when we’re not directly affected. Studies show that when we feel threatened, we isolate ourselves and focus on
restoring our sense of security. Many people attempt to alleviate anxiety by grasping for wealth, seeking pleasure and taking solace in
achievement or status. But this strategy backfires. Instead of bolstering our sense of security and well-being, it diminishes it. Across
cultures and regardless of age and gender, people whose values centre on social position and accumulation of money and possessions
actually face a greater risk of unhappiness, including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. In his book The High Price of Materialism,
psychology professor Tim Kasser shows how materialistic values undermine well-being, perpetuate feelings of insecurity and weaken the
ties that bind us as human beings. People who are materialistic also tend to be less interested in ecological issues, have negative attitudes
toward the environment and demonstrate fewer instances of sustainable behaviour. That’s a tragedy for humanity and the rest of life on
Earth.Cross-cultural research in social science has identified a set of consistently occurring human values. Social psychologists refer to one
cluster as “extrinsic”, or materialistic. These are concerned with our desire for achievement, status, power and wealth. Opposite to those are
“intrinsic” values. They relate to caring, community, environmental concern and social justice.
Although each of us carries both, the importance we attach to one set of values tends to diminish the importance of the other. When power
values like social status, prestige and dominance come first, the universal values of tolerance, appreciation and concern for the welfare of
others are suppressed. The U.K.-based Common Cause Foundation is synthesizing this growing body of values research. It offers guidance
to social change organizations on ways to engage cultural values to further their causes. Because values are like muscles — they get
stronger the more we exercise them — activists can consciously stimulate intrinsic values in communications and campaigns. Researchers
have also discovered what they call the values “leak-over effect”. Because values tend to exist in clusters, when one is activated, so are
compatible neighbouring values. For example, people reminded of generosity, self-direction and family are more likely to support pro-
environmental policies than those reminded of financial success and status. The forces behind planetary crises are complex. History,
politics and economics influence how humans act. Social change requires a focus on individual behaviour, corporate responsibility and
government policy. In today’s unstable political environment, values must also be part of the equation. That’s where we find an important
connection between environmental and social justice movements. On a values level, the efforts and strategies to combat climate change
and biodiversity loss complement and strengthen those required to bring about greater equality. When environmentalists invoke intrinsic
values to increase support for their cause, they also increase support for social justice. Because values are an important driver of attitudes
and behaviour, they are essential to changing social norms. What can we do as individuals? Our social responsibility goes deeper than our
consumer habits and voting choices. We need to reflect on what’s important to us. We all deserve to feel secure in our homes and
communities, but we can’t depend on the false sense of security that isolation or materialistic pursuits bring. When psychological insecurity
is on the rise, we need to stay committed to the values that make us environmentalists and champions of social justice. Instead of
retreating to our corners, let’s turn toward one another to re-establish our sense of security and strength. The good news is that values that
support a healthy society and sustainable planet — self-respect, concern for others, connection with nature, equality — also make us
happiest in the long term. Each one of us is a value prism, subtly bending the light in a particular direction. As Canadians, let’s be conscious
of where we direct our light.

copy of letter from Naral - I consider this an important message:Abortion scars your uterus and causes breast cancer. You won’t be
able to have children. You’ll be suicidal. Those are the lies that women are being told every day at anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers
(CPCs)--fake clinics set up to shame and confuse women seeking abortion care.1 Over the last year, we’ve conducted an in-depth
undercover investigation into these fake clinics, and what we’ve found is shocking: a consistent pattern of blatant lies and
misinformation. Will you make a donation to help us get the word out about these dangerous and deceptive fake clinics?Yes, I’ll make a
donation to fight crisis pregnancy centers and defend the right to choose. You’ve probably seen the billboards and other ads that say
“Pregnant? Scared? We can help.” These billboards advertise fake clinics run by anti-choice activists--but they’re intentionally set up to
look like real medical facilities to lure in women seeking abortion care.In fact, we’ve found that 79% of Google searches for the term
“abortion clinic” and the name of a city result in at least one ad for one of these fake clinics.2 Even worse--in many states CPCs are
actually funded with taxpayer dollars.3 Our undercover investigation has the potential to blow the lid off these fake clinics, but we
need to get the word out. Will you make a donation to help warn women about the dangers of crisis pregnancy centers? Yes, I’ll make a
donation.Thank you for helping to make abortion rights real for all women,Ilyse G. Hogue President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
