Modern Complexity: Intense Issues
Is there anything wrong with slowing down, going back to basics, enriching what we already have? We are currently
dealing with heavy and multifaceted issues in the world. Overly light or simple answers won’t get the job done. Because so much
information and knowledge develops around us at exponential rates, it might be possible to become overwhelmed. As we focus
more on development, competition, jobs and money, we might lose sight of the human touches like love, nurturing and human
contacts. In addition, we might have plenty of human contacts yet a growing sense of disconnection from an association with life
as unique and precious. The computer and cell phone devices might keep us connected with lots of people, yet somehow add a
layer of distancing as we are controlled by the systems behind them. We can become more alone than ever as we feel our true
natures receding behind a wall of society-driven norms based largely on consumerism.
We are often steered by others what to think, believe and feel We might be told what is important and how to think of others
within certain approved contexts, leaving out small unique nuances as points of value. As we are told what looks attractive, what
behaviors are normal and cool and what to buy, we might lose patience with human imperfections and bare bones operations.
Hand wrought goods go by the wayside as advertisers, factories and corporations create our purchasing realities and tastes for us;
alongside that, we learn to treat other humans as part of the factory-made and fast food lifestyle. Things that are not quick, easy
and perfect might be spit out like worthless objects because in the internet-computer world another human is just another click
away. We learn to treat each other like expendable menu items. At the same time, humans might become so much the focus of
attention that we leave out other aspects of life as advertising antics channel our programmed responses. This might mean the
rest of the planet that we live on and need for survival goes by the wayside including natural beauty in nature, water, air, plants
and animals as we put up more and more housing subdivisions and shopping centers, all with the same look and feel.
Who am I in the middle of all this? It might be better to slow down and rethink our approaches in a society pulling at us in
various directions. Aggression and self-absorbed behaviors might be going up as the tensions created by an overpopulated and
overly exploited resource base increase. As people work more to keep up, they might not be spending nurturing and educational
time with kids. Single parents and both working parents might be leaving kids alone at home, in day cares or with others less caring
than family would be for long periods. Domestic violence might be accelerating as a result of these things, leaving kids and
families torn apart. As sexual values changes, people might be confused as to what is male, what is female and how families
should operate. We can find various positions crying out for attention to demand certain values for themselves and their closest
associations. Battles of will and propriety might add yet more strain to families and kids. Kids will hear their parents saying and
doing one thing while others in society are doing other things; they might be confused as to which direction to take, especially if
they are in a narrow or abusive home. Confusing messages, lack of patient support and a wide array of stresses can lead to things
like depression, anxiety and suicide. For these reasons and more, we need to work together for diverse and creative solutions to

Downer talk refers to the habitual bad mouthing of other people, ideas or situations. It comes from a variety of sources including
child abuse, an area, a work place and friendship circles. Downer talk is unbelievably destructive and impacting; many of us
probably don’t take it seriously enough. It has a tone, an energy and a feeling. One of its most important ramifications is the way
that it shifts the emotions and mental sets of people around it.
Psychic connection should not be taken lightly
Downer talk can be directed at a person in the room and it can also be done at a distance in a couple of ways. One distance form is
represented by people discussing the individual when he or she is not there using judgment and corrective mental slants. The
other ways it happens is when a person is alone thinking bad thoughts about someone else and considering how that individual is
not good enough, needs mental help or otherwise is some kind of low life.
Habits as grooves
As the people discuss the other person with someone else or privately in their minds, it takes on a habit or shifts into a groove. It
means that as times goes on whenever that other person is thought about, the probability that a negative thought will come up
becomes several times more likely. The weight of habit can cause a reflex reaction of negativity just by having that person’s name
come up. People in downer talk mode go on autopilot and after awhile stop even questioning where their notions come from.
They have that person slotted for life, so to speak.
Like acid eating away at a person
Downer talk is so destructive that it can eat away at the most valuable positive attributes of a person, including things like self-
worth, hope for the future (including dreams and plans for education, jobs, and a mate) and it can kill the spark inside a person
that sets the flame for putting things into action. It also can destroy creative thinking processes as new ideas are smashed or
ridiculed. Downer talk can be found in the family home where people get used to slapping each other around emotionally to the
point that is all they know, hear and say. They then pass that terrible condition of poor communication and listening habits onto
other people, including their future mates and children. This can be (and often is) a form of child abuse.
Words Do Hurt
The old adage that sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me is not true. Words do hurt people and leave
scars. Children growing up with downer talk in the home are likely to be impacted for life. It can be things like nothing they do or
say is ever good enough or positive feedback that comes in spurts. They also might learn to manipulate for positive attention or to
deflect negative behaviors. Downer talk can also make people emotionally stiff, discussed elsewhere on this website. It can set up
retaliative and calculating tendencies of anticipation and avoidance. It also might impact the brain’s development and the body’s
overall biochemical balance and health. Constantly hearing caustic language in the home can cause a person to want to hide,
shrink, leave, cry, shout and even lash out by hitting. As people hear it, they become it.
No need to hurry and go nowhere fast
Easy Does It
In recalling the story of the “Tortoise and the Hare” from Aesop’s Fables, the tortoise was slow, but made it.
The hare was fast, but did not. The tortoise was deliberate and careful. The hare was arrogant, flighty,
impatient and took unnecessary risks. The tortoise made it to the finish line; the hare not only lost the race,
he lost face. (See driving is not a race section below.)
As the world steers into trouble through global warming, population increases, competition for increasingly rare
resources including fresh water, and fascist or Communist control systems, we will find ourselves driving increasingly
recklessly. As things get rougher, people tend to try to immune themselves from the stress using substances of
various kinds which means they are more likely to have problems while driving. Now is the time to start developing a
plan for wise habits and self-protection on the road.
People should retain choice. Although education, advice and strong direction are encouraged, ultimately some safe
driving habits should be guided by CHOICE, not legally enforced acdtivities, like seatbelt wearing. Bossing people into
conformity on seatbelt wearing is another form of Big Brother. People should not get a ticket or financial penalty for
not wearing a seat belt, but it should be a law to seatbelt kids, as is the case. Adults should have choices.
People are in a frenzy these days. Bumper riding (tailgating) is becoming common place. A
tendency for drivers to be impatient with others is increasing. People want to pass slower vehicles while taking too many risks;
they present a danger to themselves and the other drivers. There is an increased aggressiveness on the road not seen in earlier
years. Here are some likely reasons people are going faster and with more vehemence these days - the reasons work separately or
together. They may be like little worms at the backs of people’s minds and bodies, eating away at their focus, nerves, patience and
common sense: 1) Economic Tension 2) Tension Over Fears About Global Warming and Planetary Big Problems
3) Substance Abuse or Influence: Drugs and Alcohol 4) Food and Drink Related Biochemical Imbalance (ie, salts, sugar)

Costs of 911 should be considered. Just like everything else today, the cost of servicing 911 has gone up. In certain areas of the
country, especially those with more alcohol and drug related problems, more accidents than ever may be occurring. Please

put a dollar figure on the service of helping someone in a tragic accident; when people are experience severe trauma and injury
with no one around who can give adequate medical help, 911 can be that miracle between life and death. When people make
phone calls on 911, certain types of phone service are charged a surcharge which goes into helping support it.
Good communities will try to figure out additional ways to help support 911 service providers and related facilities, vehicles,
technology, and so on because this is one of the keys to maintaining a civilized society. People need to not be worried about
money issues when a 911 call is made; the 911 facilitators need to know their end is covered so they can focus on emergencies. If
people are worried about where the money is going to come from when a 911 call is made, then the ability to be fully
psychologically available for the people who have been hurt in an accident is reduced. Most people don’t realize that when they
make a 911 call reporting an emergency, money issues might be on the minds of the service people taking the call on the other end
of the phone. We need to make sure 911 people are covered so they can do their jobs with full dedication to the injuries and issues

Like anything else, prevention is far easier to perform than emergency service after the fact. If people can encourage drivers to

Driving is not a race
By using the analogy of the tortoise and the hare, it is not to suggest that driving a vehicle on the road should be seen as a race
with two people competing to get somewhere first. The idea is that going too fast when it is not necessary while taking too many
risks could lead to a serious accident. The tortoise is using common sense and is carefully thinking through what he is doing, but a
driver being careful on the road is not in fact in a race to win out the other drivers through calculation or otherwise. He is just
trying to get from one place to another safely using good strategies and not pushing things to the limit.<back to top>
Going too slow can be dangerous, too
What is more, there are times when being slow and out of sync with the traffic can be dangerous, encouraging people to become
impatient and take unnecessary risks. Some states have laws requiring slower vehicles to pull over to let faster ones pass. It is just
common courtesy and common sense. There may be times, however, when you are the slower driver on the road and you would in
fact like to pull over to let others pass, but things may be preventing you to immediately accomplish this.
One issue might be that you are on a bad road which has few turn-off areas, or the turn-off areas are of poor quality so that you
need to really slow down in order to turn onto them (for example, ones with high ridges like small drop-offs, rocks, rough pavement
pits, uneven dirt, or places with road trash like broken glass). Another issue might be that someone is riding your bumper so
closely to the point you cannot turn off or get off the road without causing them to possibly hit you from behind. What is best is to
be able to see a good turn-off area up ahead and to signal in plenty of time; usually people will back of your bumper at that point
and will slow down. Unfortunately, there are times the tail-gating offender does not slow down; in that case, be very careful about
how you turn off because one of two things might happen: first, the car behind you may run into you as slow down and try to pull
over; secondly, the individuals in that vehicle may try to follow you onto the turn-off, mindlessly assuming you are following an
unusual curve in the road or something.
When you are slower than others on the road you are often pushed to go faster even when your common sense or your
own sense of comfort is encouraging you not to do that. For example, the speeding limit on a highway might be 65; you
might actually be going that speed limit and yet still have people on your bumper pressing you to go faster. In addition, they may
be close behind you because they are looking around your car for an opportunity to pass you. The problem is sometimes those
waiting to pass you may follow too close for quite some time down the road while they wait for an opportunity to pass you. What
happens in this case is that the strain of the situation builds up; you are getting increasingly nervous having them on your bumper
for an extended period, and they are getting increasingly frustrated and impatient to pass you (or have you speed up to their
This is what could be termed an accelerated situation in the sense that the chances for an accident to occur are greatly increased.
You could be getting increasingly nervous and more likely to make bad decisions, and the people behind you may rush trying to
pass you before it is really a safe place to do that. In cases like this, it really is encouraged that if you can possibly get your turn
signal going while trying to pull over safely and let them pass, do so. Even if you cannot see a turn-off right away, you might
prepare the people behind you that you are looking for a turn-off as soon as one comes available by starting your blinker and by
slowing down. Then as soon as one shows up, try to pull over safely at that point. Unfortunately, there are times you cannot really
do that and pulling over is not an option; the best thing to do is to keep driving carefully by making sure you are not being too slow
below the speed limit, but don’t let them bully you into going faster than your comfort level. Hopefully, down the road, you will
find a way to get off and let them pass or a passing lane will show up.
It is for these reasons that it is so important that highways and fast moving roads be designed with several well-marked and widely
paved turn-off areas. If most of the sides of the road are too narrow or too rough and hard to turn onto, it discourages people from
trying to pull over and let others pass.
Driving and Fatigue
All of us should know ourselves well enough to pull over when we see the first signs of drowsiness. Don’t try to force
staying awake. If you have to shake your head or do other things to stay awake, this is a wake-up call in more ways than
one. Don’t be stubborn about making a distance goal (ie, “I want to make it to X by such and such time”); if your body is
giving out, pay attention to it and don’t keep forcing it to drive. Sometimes getting something to eat and drink can help,
or getting out and walking around. Also talking to someone can bring the focus back. These things, however, may not
replace a good solid period of sleep. There is a time when only sleep will work - sometimes even two or three hours of it
will do the trick (like a nap). Driving can be hypnotic in and of itself, but when we are tired on top of that, we may have
trouble pulling out of the dreamy lull.
Don’t delay getting off the road if you are pushing your limits. On highways it may be difficult to feel safe pulling over -
we worry about dangerous people attacking us in our parked vehicles. If you feel you need to get some sleep and a motel
is not an option, try to find a public area. Keep blankets and warm coats in the car and plenty of water. Dehydration may
lead to fatigue and compound it, particularly if we have been eating junk food with too much salt. Sugary foods can give
us a temporary rise in energy with a fairly quick low that may encourage fatigue and a sense of imbalance or non-
groundedness. The quick buzz beverages on sale today may mess with people’s energy and biochemical levels giving
unnatural highs and artificial feelings of elation only to be followed by down-states and tiredness. It is this writer’s
opinion that those type of high caffeine/energy pumping drinks are unhealthy. Taking over-the-counter drugs like NoDoze
are just as bad - these things push your system beyond its normal limits and may eave you more wiped out than you were

Academics Might Be Too Fast Paced To Give People Time To Absorb and Really Learn
True education these days needs to maintain a realistic connection with environmental and other global problems. Keeping people
focused on things distant from these issues is not doing them or the planet a favor. We need a combination of liberal arts
education strongly intermingled with real life skills. People need to learn to think beyond the box but they also need to know how
to take care of themselves.
Consider the possibility that cram/slam, heavy input-output orientations to any type of education are ultimately non-productive
and can be damaging.
“In line with the demise of ideology has been the transformation of social science into a science premised on the success of the
natural sciences. Thus the behavioral sciences evolved, neutral in character and acceptable to both natural and social scientists
seeking to find some unit of measurement, whether it be for money for the economist or the vote for the political scientist. This
perspective of social science is rested in the industrialization and technology of a society characterized by bureaucracy,
specialization and the division of labor.
These trends affected the universities and education in general. For example, some critics, especially progressive academics
concerned with these trends, come to view knowledge as a commodity, something detached from those who produced it, that can
be sold in the market. One consequence may be alienation as the intellect becomes detached from the self and fact is
distinguished from value. The specialist in society and in the university may ignore the whole process of learning, and the
cumulative acquisition of knowledge becomes the assembly line of the modern university.” (Ronald Chilcote, 2000, Comparative

A Flowing and Practical Route to Education
If educational formats try to shove reading down people’s throats while also demanding high volumes of output, this does not
leave time for people to absorb and process information. Several of the online programs, in a desire to satisfy governmental and
outside agency requirements, have developed a push and shove approach because they don’t want to lose their designations or
funding by coming across as too easy. The problem with this is that education becomes a commodity and a divisive element
between the processing, feeling and thinking self and the intellectual mimic (see quote above by Calcote). People learn to turn out
smart sounding phrases to get a grade and to sound like one of the educated crowd, but they have not internalized their learning.
In addition, much material is temporarily put into the short-term memory for the expediencies of the moment when it is forgotten
later as new material is added. Shifting through large volumes of information in a short period of time only to regurgitate it for a
grade might give people the illusion they are learning, but it is likely the high paced format and sense of tension needed to keep up
sends signals to the brain and body that this is more of an ordeal than a learning experience.
Beware of quick online programs
Some of the programs which advertise “one class a month” or “get your degree in a year and a half” might be pushing the envelope
in terms of what people really can absorb and accomplish in a short period time. In addition, it seems quite a lot of the online
programs provide education in Business and related fields: do we really need that many more business and economics majors on
the planet? These types of programs might be making it too easy for people to go into programs which are not sophisticated
enough to handle the major problems people and the planet are encountering today. In addition, many of the online programs
look, smell and taste much like others around the country. They all have kind of a Big Brother feel of conformity and machine-like
pegging (this dot goes in that box, this line goes in that circle).
Although there are benefits in these programs, people need to be selective and careful about what they are taking and how the
material is presented. If people are asked to do this kind of thing with more than one class on the books, it might be difficult to
keep the classes straight. In addition, if high prices are being charged for the “one class a month” scenario, people need to identify
whether it is really worth the cost. It seems likely some of these online schools are ripping people off. If you want to use one of
these programs, go ahead - again, there do seem to be some benefits - but try to balance cost against what you are really getting
for your money. Don’t let the system dominate you if you feel you are not learning anything - get out of there and go find another
The more speedy approaches to education give a kind of soulless and tasteless feeling to some people who have collected degrees
along the way but have not made the connection between academia and the real problems of our world and society. There might
be an artificial sense of satisfaction in having gotten a degree which employers respond to, but which really did not prepare people
to think deeply about matters beyond a certain level. It would be better to slow down and perhaps learn less in volume but to get
certain key points under our belts. We could do this while learning how to learn both generally and in that particular subject or
field. This would enable us to gradually absorb more as we adopt an increasingly sophisticated approach toward lifelong learning.
We want people to survive individually and to help the planet come out of its problems. We do not want schools to just turn out
more degrees while giving people the false sense of security that by going through the motions of a relatively superficial education
that somehow things will turn out sufficiently.
There are many in academics and research who are working on “higher ground” portfolios dealing with the environment and global
Many well-established and reputable scientists and others have stepped forward to voice their concerns about the environment. It
is surprising to some just how many knowledgeable, experienced and well-reputed people have indicated our planet is hitting high-
crisis thresholds. When we see all the well-meaning and highly astute people coming out of academia, we cannot suggest that all
current college programs are promoting excessive input-output training with low processing time. What is being suggested here is
that certain scholastic programs are not focusing on the key issues while giving students time to absorb critical baseline
information which could both help them later in higher subjects as well as give them a solid grounding with the real world. The
more that students make a connection with the planet, the more they will be able to protect themselves against a wide range of
issues - everything from disasters to the need for job versatility.
Give people time to digest the material they are learning, to make it a part of their day to day working realities
This education section encourages both academic and non-traditional formats for learning. It is a felt a combination of various
formats can help people meet today’s challenges, but that no matter the style of education, people need to be given time to mull
things over and internalize them. For one thing, many of us are under more stress and pressure than in previous decades for a
variety of reasons. Part of it is that we are bombarded with all kinds of chemicals and energy from our environment. Few of us are
given the benefit of the doubt that these things are in fact impacting us. In addition, economics may be pressuring people in a way
that focusing on topics might be more difficult. We have to give people time to have a life and to also learn new material which can
help them. If schools are focused on pressuring people to do nothing but focus on academics, they are often not taking into
consideration the reality of our times.
Short memory tests along the way still a good way to go - not to be considered “old school”
It is suggested that no matter what is being taught it be given in increments with a combination of short memory testing and
writing, with the memory testing designed to help people anchor information into their long-term memories - not just to test and
get a grade. This memory work can be done in a variety of ways and needs to flow with the likely distractions people feel on a daily
basis. The writing work should be designed to both help people express feelings and ideas on an informal level and also to create
more professional works when dealing with academic subjects. In addition, people should be given time to talk over their
impressions of the material they are studying. Informal writings and discussions help people anchor information and internalize
new ideas so that they become familiar and workable in the rest of life, and for a longer period of time than just getting through a
class. It helps people take the material with them.
Short memory work projects can help people digest large amounts of information without the push-shove approach in which
people feel like they are consuming encyclopedias and spitting out volumes only to pass the class, sigh with relief it is over, and
move on to the next push-shove class. The current global times are telling us we need another approach to learning and problem
solving because things are breathing down our necks. We are on an abyss and do not have time for anything but the most
applicable and efficient learning processes. We need things to go somewhere fast, and it needs to be real. It is best to acquaint
people first with the biggest priorities for their survival and to encourage diversified thinking so they have various options at their
disposal should a crisis occur. Then after setting up the skeletons of learning, we can start adding the muscles and tissues. Teach
people basic concepts that they really need first and make sure they have that squared away before moving onto more detail and
complexity. As you teach more of these things, do it in chunks so that you can test for comprehension and anchoring. Keep
checking the memory over time so that things learned early on are continuously retested so as to anchor them into permanent
long-term memory. Try to get people engaged in this process for themselves, making clear that the process is not designed as a
way to collect grades or to make people nervous about being tested. If not in a formal academic setting with grades, still use a
type of memory testing to help people retain information. The more people have things at their memory disposal, the more they
have a functional system for personal thought and survival on hand. The more that people really know something, the more they
are truly educated. Force fed education often leaves people angry, confused and unable to create a hierarchy of importance out of
what they have managed to retain.
Give people breaks that are really breaks
In addition, plan on giving people breaks that are really breaks - not just time to leave the classroom for a bathroom or
snack break. Consider letting people leave the study area to go for a walk, go take a nap, go handle personal needs like
errands or making phone calls. Then when they come back, resume another period of intense discussion or review. This
kind of thing might be done over a period of segments with a study-break-study-break orientation. Suggest to people that
the best way would be to go take a walk and kind of let the material sink in before coming back to the study area. The
study area could be a formal academic classroom or any type of educational setting in which material being learned is
gone over. The concept of giving people breaks between intense learning sections is probably more thoroughly
understood and done in Japan in certain contexts than in the United States.
Make links between big picture and small details
There is often is a lack of continuity between the big picture and the small details. True education begins with engaging
the person in the process for themselves. If they feel they are being guided by something outside of themselves, it has
less impact. They need to feel they are in charge, but where there is ignorance about where the education is taking them,
or where it could go, they might not be able to take the reigns effectively. The expert in a field trying to teach others with
less knowledge or abilities needs to balance out the need for personal direction and the lack of awareness in that student
for all that is possible. Masters know how far people can go because they have been there themselves, but they cannot
teach anyone anything of a substantial nature if they do not have that person on board participating. Many a teacher has
made comments about this. However, what is usually missed in today’s learning experience is the respectful recognition
that most people are dealing with a tremendous amount of distractions one way or another. We have to learn how to loop
real world education in and around these distractions without trying to beat them down or ignore them.
We live in a distracting world often focused on self-sabotaging goals
As mentioned above, the distractions often can be chemical and energetic from things in our environment and
also from the energy of people who are nervous and uptight over current affairs both locally and globally. The
lack of trust over the government/military and big business complex causes many people to shut down or disengage in
certain ways. This also can have an impact on education. Tension can reveal itself in people in different ways. For some,
it’s a need to take a breather at intervals. For some it’s drugs and alcohol. For yet others it’s a go, go, go until you
explode. No matter how people process the difficult things often found in modern life, you can bet most of us are feeling
something when we try to go to school or learn anything new. Educators need to go into their teachings with the feeling
they really want people to come away with something that helps them get through life in a meaningful way. They don’t
want to choke or overwhelm their students with material just to look good to an employer or the agencies providing
accreditation for the school. And just because an educator was able to take the push-shove approach does not mean he or
she should turn around and dish that out to other students. Have a sense of kindness and compassion toward students
realizing that many of them have been so burned by education by the time you get hold of them that they are prepared to
do the minimal of what it takes to learn the material and get through the class. They see this as basic survival. Don’t take

the system without meeting the needs of the real world
There is a cheating atmosphere in education today because of this. People feel too threatened by the push-shove
approach so they look for easiest ways out whenever possible, which takes them away from the active process of really
thinking things over and getting the material deep down inside them so they have it to use later. Most students self-
sabotage their ability to absorb information for the long haul and for useful later purposes because they are trying to
overcome the push-shove thing. What a sad commentary on education today. We want everyone to learn so that we help
ourselves and planet in long-term meaningful ways and not just as quick fixes. Many times we hear people in the
government offer solutions they say are long-term but if you really analyze what they are suggesting, it’s more of the
same old stale thinking which brings the environment down and keeps many people locked in miserable jobs at low pay.
Gaps between higher Ups and entry level or “Grunt Workers” is Unhealthy for Society
Although many managers and business people are ethical and well-meaning, certain approaches to the managerial
system encourage a type of predatory behavior. The more there is a difference between doing well or well enough and
those who are miserable and struggling, the more this creates a tension in society. The differences between the have’s
and have nots creates a scenario for both rebellion and negative political regimes to gain an unhealthy hold. Education
can help combat these issues, but education without real direction only takes people so far.
Education needs to teach people the value of whole life approaches
We need to envision a society in which all people make enough money and have satisfying jobs which are good for the
planet and the well-being of human nature. We need to emphasize that work is not just about getting a paycheck and
that the more people who are miserable while earning those paychecks, the more it finds itself in the misery of society as
a whole. We need to deter people from becoming managers and business owners at higher pay at the expense of others
beneath them. Not encouraging socialism or communism, it is suggested instead that we encourage education which
helps people see both the big picture and the technical details while working out social, political and economic problems
which do not lend themselves to tyrannical governmental control systems. The more truly educated a populations is, the
more likely it will protect itself from tyrants. If people are taught to see their education as both furthering their abilities
to support themselves and to create a healthier world, the tendency for misguided approaches is reduced.
Heavy training in technology and sciences at the expense of human and planetary health should be avoided
We create monsters when we teach people how to be excellent at the details of technology without having a heart-felt
feeling for the broader concerns of the planet and other people. In many ways, the Nazi German scientists who came out
of WWII exemplified this: outstanding at science and technology and glaringly lacking in the issues of human rights or the
needs of humanity as a whole. If you don’t teach people how to feel and deal with their world sensitively, you are
encouraging a type of mindlessness which does turn around and fuel violence and glaring selfishness in this world. Once
you set people on that trap of lower learning value, you have unleashed yet another problem on the planet. It is indeed a
form of lower education to learn how to build a machine that will kill others without also teaching them how to have
compassion for the human race and the broader needs of the planet. No matter how technically skilled a person is, if they
cannot feel how others feel when they are violated, we have created monsters. We have to take responsibility for the
monsters we have created through our educational formats and the psychology we use in our school systems, from the
childhood level on up through college.

Employees on the hourly clock taking guff & rebuff for a day with pay
For many in the United States and in the world, receiving a paycheck comes at heavy costs as the notion of the grind is continuously
reinvented to reflect many different types of negative on-the-job experiences
Many people on salary in white collar, executive or military officer positions might ignore, not realize or have forgotten how rough
things can get down closer to the bottom of the pay scale or where there is manual labor. Included in the overall work
atmosphere can be the sense of being expendable and at the mercy of employers who want every ounce of output for every penny
spent. Inappropriate training can include things like mismatched information given an employee’s skill/educational level or
learning style disposition, canned corporate training videos which lack real substance or adequately detailed how-to information
and grouchy, grumbling or biased personal input or commentary from trainers.
Here are a few issues: rudeness from supervisors and fellow employees, being rushed like a machine to get things done faster,
incomplete or inappropriate training, inability to question or comment on procedures or behaviors found in the department or
company, gossip or backtalk and underlying gender, age, sexual orientation and racial or cultural tensions. Gender and sexual
orientation can differ with individual and cultural background and can lead to misinterpretation and discomfort in the work place.
Sexual orientation - whether in appearance or fact - can carry with it a set of behaviors, body language, hair and clothing style,
word choice and communication styles which can set the stage for conflict if seen as an irritant, threat or a jab to other workers.
These tensions can include different languages, world views, religious backgrounds and a street or gang mentality brought into the
job. Gangs often have a jungle-like approach to hierarchies, club-like affiliations, playing favors, racial ties and a hidden system of
symbols, codes, body and emotional/sexual language, much of which might be habitual or subconscious. Gang and non-gang types
might be working on a different set of goals and values without realizing it, creating confusion and conflict. These things add up in
many different ways to poor job performance, low employee retention rates with high turnover, depression or anxiety and even
community or national tensions. How we feel about ourselves and each other while on the job has widespread effects and cannot
be taken lightly.
Many employers with high ticket products or well-paying customers might have a veneer of polish on the upper levels while down
in the depths of the employee grid, personnel are working in shoddy conditions and treated like they have to take poor treatment.
In many cases, you will find employees working in million dollar facilities watching large ticket sales come in at the upper echelons
while they themselves are watching every hour go by and every dollar come in toward their paychecks with a sense of things
moving at a grinding and crawling pace.
Some people just groove in for the long haul and give up thinking about options or how to make things better. They lose spark and
creative hope. Once used to the poor treatment and dismal surroundings, they might feel uncomfortable with improvements.
Shifting things for the better can create a sense of discomfort. For one thing, people might have a vested interest in keeping things
the way they are because they have already become a part of the problem by doing things they knew they should not have done.
In other words, they have contributed to the overall company problem and feel they could get in trouble by a different
management system wanting to come in and do things right. Another reason is the misguided attitude that it is cool not to be the
hotshot coming in with aspiring ideals. There also can be a group mentality or company culture of negative self-fulfilling
prophecies to overcome.
Positive change can feel alien or jarring because people fear they cannot rely on false hope if things prove temporary. People learn
that people might talk big but that ultimately nothing ever really gets done, and in the process the wannabe improving parties are
fired, quit, are retaliated against, die or wind up just as corrupt (if not more so) than the previous bad administration.
Shifting company culture requires a realistic understanding of group dynamics and the ability to own up to having made mistakes.
Focus should be on growth and the assimilation of what works rather than punitive measures. Keep an eye out for more efficient
ways to do things and encourage employee input on these things. Chewing people out for not being fast enough and for making
mistakes should be replaced with patience and fair-minded constructive advice and direction. Truly useful training videos and
other ways (like sideline training) for people to study their job tasks should be available for people who need extra help. Some
people learn kinetically related tasks more quickly than other more analytical types who tend to learn ideas or philosophical
concepts better. Ego-driven training styles encouraging speed, competition and shaming should be avoided. Keep more
advanced skilled people separate from less advanced ones to help avoid frustration, competition and comparisons. The idea
should be that trainers want people to really learn what they need to do inside and out, and that they know why they are doing
what they are doing. It should be the company culture that all of the people there are important and valuable and the job is a part
of the whole of life.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse A Way of Life in Some Families and Neighborhoods
Both racially segregated neighborhoods and mostly white areas might experience a wave of violence, but persons of color continue
to suffer the most unrelieved tension and violence in large parts of the United States. They stay stuck isolated in areas that don’t
pull out of the heaviness, walled off from real support. Problems feed on themselves, as poverty and lack of hope keep people tied
to a certain pole of despair and inequity in jobs and human services.
People with more money and without a color issue still have more options. Money and prestige can still buy better services and
real help, much of the time.
No matter the race, households with domestic violence and sexual abuse might be contextually predisposed to perpetuate these
problems. Families tend to pass problems down the line. Problems in certain areas might be based on economic, culture and
religious values or tendencies. Lines of assistance might be blocked based on who is politically and economically in charge of an
area, or who has the most clout. Police and governmentally related social services might be hooked into a corrupt or skewed
political system which keeps certain people out of the loop of assistance or withholds certain types of nurturing. How the poor in
an area are treated might have more to do with public concerns over tourism and image than real caring or a desire to find
sustainable solutions. Religious orientations on the surface might support positive endeavors but at the same time might support
systems that keep women in a secondary position while encouraging men to take advantage of that by being abusive and self-
centered about their sexual approaches or other privileges. Heavy secular business approaches on the other hand might alienate
people from feelings of caring and nurturing while focusing on the never-ending next business venture. Losing touch with human
feeling, nature and the mystery of the universe, corporate driven ventures might squash the small things in life as trivial in the face
of the iron hand of so-called progress. Such things can be push-pull aggressive approaches.
Tones of voice, body language, and sexual habits might be stirred together in a brew of push, pull, and bang-bang as kids are yelled
at, mothers beaten by fathers in front of them, and incest a way of life. The sheer sound of voices (despite what exactly is said) can
tell you a lot about how things are for a person in that home. Boundaries of personal space, including sexual space, might be
violated constantly from the time a child is born until he or she leaves home. The sound of guns in the neighborhood, the sense
that going to a grocery store might be a way to get shot at or raped, and that people are always going around hiding guns in their
clothes, cars or homes....the whole bang-bang world develops reflexes so one is always on alert for danger.
Some persons grow up thinking violence is all there is to life and that even if you move away to a better neighborhood, the world is
never easing up. People who grow up with that sense of someone always in their space, slapping, saying loud and hateful things,
whining, nagging, wanting sex, provoking, playing loud TVs and music eventually become that same force of jarring agitation. They
turn around and do that to their mates, neighbors, people on the road, and kids by passing on all that chaos. They cannot stand
silence, always needing noise and commotion to feel normal. Such agitation can lead people to become insensitive to a gentler
world. Intolerance to peace might be built in. Walk into a house and try to identify immediately: What is the sound and force

Pressure points might be triggered leading to an explosion of emotions. Taken too far, it could kill someone.
Self-monitoring of emotions and developing tensions, as well as trajectory of thoughts, can assist in sensing whether or
not we are reaching our limits. Our pressure points or triggers might be about things like money and fears of
If we are hitting the breaking point, we can train ourselves to seek or even demand time out for ourselves. Time out is a
space in which we remove ourselves from a brewing potential bad act. Ill-gotten temptations of various kinds can slowly
or rapidly shift our thoughts toward bad actions. Keeping poor company, substance abuse and habitually thinking about
causing someone harm can lead to acting wildly given a trigger point. Recognizing that our breaking point might be near,
we can initiate a breather from the problem by taking a vacation, switching or quitting a line of work, moving to another
area, getting a divorce, going fishing, taking a long drive, walk or bike ride, talking it over with a friend at a coffee shop or
out in a park. It could include reclaiming our calm and happiness through meditation and healing work.
Time out separates a potential attacker from a victim, or separates two co-victims/attackers from each other. It gives
people time to regroup, ground and find a more balanced emotional center. It can include calling in someone else to do
the job if we feel we are too emotionally involved to stay cool. Our biases might interfere with fair play for the other
person; if we find we might be the thing that holds that person back from equal opportunity, we need to call someone
else in. Time out is not just the hindrance of a potentially physically destructive act; it is the removal of our potential
interference with support for that person. If our presence keeps that person from working in a bind-free zone or if our
investigative tactics are particularly invasive or aggressive, we need to pull in and do time out. Let someone less
emotionally worried over agendas and outcomes handle it. If we are blocking certain lines of free will and free play for
that person, we are interfering. Our block and tackle tactics demand we back off and give the person some breathing
room. Getting to the core area of the inner feeling leading to a series of thoughts can help. We can send healing energy in
there. If the feelings of provocation seem bigger than we are, we can seek outside help.
Sometimes families need time out. Group dynamics might play people against each other, Families can use
sociologically know forces like hierarchies of power, importance and even worthiness, distributing affection and money
along lines of selective qualifiers. The qualifiers might be about what is considered worthy and not, leaving some family
members the queens or heros and others the rotten eggs in terms of both family and outside in-looker criteria. Parents
with money, for example, could play good child against bad child using concepts of success and hard work. The good
children get the privileges and material items, the bad children do not. Families can play this theme out on each other.
Competition among siblings in an atmosphere of preferential treatment or misalignment can lead to people increasingly
acting out in one way or another. As the tension builds, the games keep being played and no one brings things out into
the open daylight. The sneaking and backstabbing can lead to further misalignment of certain family members while
others who are actually doing mean little things get off scot free. People can gang up on substance abusers in the
family, people with apparent or real emotional problems and those who seem like moochers or slackers for no
reason. In this scenario, the good family members are the ones who hold down jobs and stable lifestyles, pay
their bills and show visible signs of progression in their lives, while the bad members are those who do the
Police officers and policing networks might be finding themselves the bad children in the eyes of a growing disgruntled
and alarmed public. Just like so-called bad kids in a family, it can become a case of projections, name-calling and a
feedback system of growing manifested events. The more the bad kids are told they don’t fit in and are bad, the more
they fulfill that expectation and act out. As support and positive feedback continues to be removed, things get worse.
Understand that certain kinds of system abuse including gangstalking might make normal self-healing and self-balancing
measures more difficult. Gangstalking can impact the above family dynamics without people knowing it. More is going
on than often meets the eye. People using psyops operations can be riling us up, trying to find our vices and have us act
on them (temptations) and pushing us to our limits. They might be damaging our body’s various channels (like nerve
tissue) through repeated harassment and energy torture. For this, we need a new kind of doctor, a different type of
therapist than the average MD or counselor. We need to go to people who are experts in these matters and truly know
what to look for.

UNIVERSALITY OF SINCERITY
When soulful truth transcends age, race and gender
There is a purity in sincerity which speaks across all lines of race, culture, age and gender. There can be young people who are old
and old people who are timeless. People of vastly different religious backgrounds or racial orientations can come together in the
space of the heart. There is a way of being truly in the heart that does not pride itself for being a person of heart. It seems when
people give off the attitude of I am in my heart, it kills the spirit of the heart. Prideful airs and one oneupmanship about being the
real person of heart do not belong in sincere communication between two or more parties. Thinking of one’s self or culture as
being more soulful or heart-based than others means the people have not yet grounded fully in their hearts - they might be partly
in and partly out. Also, we can pop in and out of our hearts. We might be well-meaning and sincere in one moment and lose
it a few hours later. We might burn out. We might be abused and tricked so much we cannot trust to have that level of
Sincerity in its long-range wisdom carries through the long hauls of life. It has a certain vibe. You can feel it. When you’ve got it
between two people, you know it, but this might takes years of practice and going through some things until you find the right
spot. It’s like learning to identify the right wood for a hunting bow or a surf board, or the best herb in the woods for a stomach
pain. When you finally run into another person wanting to play it straight and come at things in the right way, it is like a God’s
send. Sincerity cannot be over-valued and is a primary ingredient in all major societal changes for the better. The people work
together and make things happen largely because of their sincerity and mutual trustworthiness. They work together in a space of
heart and have gotten the human relations thing and the meaning of life down to the nitty gritty.
